Project Management Consultant / Facilitator

A dynamic & experienced consultant and facilitator, specialising in all levels of project management, strategic management and general business management, with in-depth experience in the engineering , I.T. and aerospace industries.

A graduate Electronics Engineer by training, I started my professional career in the aerospace industry as a design engineer in 1970. I very soon became a team leader, and section manager, responsible for the development and support of sophisticated airborne instrumentation.

I then joined a well-known German aerospace company as project engineer, but after a year, decided to return to my previous employer as section manager, responsible for the development and support of all test range instrumentation systems.

I left this organisation in 1982 to join a small I.T. engineering company, to head a new division. The mission of this division was to develop complex data acquisition and processing facilities for a group of government clients. I built the division from a group of three employees to a compliment of 75 technicians, software developers and system integrators, and project and programme managers.

During this time, I also completed my Masters in Business Leadership, a 4 year part time degree through the University of South Africa. Many of the concepts studied were applied directly in my business environment. For the success of the division in meeting and exceeding customer expectations, I was nominated for the client?s prestigious Chairman?s Award in 1987. I was also nominated to the board of my parent company.

Due to this success, I was transferred to an ailing electronics manufacturer within the group, to head the marketing function. It soon became apparent to me that this company could not be saved, and I recommended to the board that it be closed, and the assets sold, a task which I was entrusted to.

In 1994 I joined the local operation of a German Automotive sound and navigation systems manufacturer as Managing Director, and in 1996 was offered a position as Group Managing Director of a Fleet Tracking Company.

I left this group in 1997 to start my own consulting business in Project and Strategic Management.

I have managed various projects in the IT, security, electronic product development and advertising industries, and am currently also the Academic Head and senior facilitator in Project Management for the largest private Education group in Southern Africa. In 2000 I obtained a Diploma in Train the Trainer.

I facilitate Advanced Project Management courses, as well as the Project Management module for an Oxford Brookes MBA.

I have developed custom Project Management courses for large parastatal organisations, as well as facilitated Project Risk Management workshops for the S.A.Navy Dockyard

I enjoy facilitating learning in adults. I have the ability to understand complex technical topics and situations, and to explain these in simple terms.
