Ian’s initial background is in sales and service, having previously undertaken the roles of a key account manager, mortgage specialist and manager of personal lending team within a major international finance company. Ian then moved into the HR department, were for several years he undertook various roles, the last role being national training and development manager.
Ian has been a self-employed training consultant for the last 9 years. He is a Director in his own training company based in the UK and works closely with like-minded, expert professionals. This company deals with major clients in the UK and Europe as well as many clients in the Middle East (see below).
He works extensively in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
Recent projects have taken Ian to the Middle East on numerous occasions, working in places such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Saudi Arabia with delegates from Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Sudan and Nigeria. He has designed and delivered courses for Call Centres, Service and Sales, Management and Leadership skills, Recruitment & Selection, Job Evaluation, Human Resource Management and Internal Consultancy amongst many others. He is very familiar with the working practices, cultures and customs in this region of the world and thoroughly enjoys working there.
He has had many years of experience tailoring programmes to address organisational issues for their managers - especially focussing on the communication, leadership, development, and personal skills elements. Additionally, he uses an consultative approach to work with organisations to evaluate their culture and advise on strategic changes to enable their staff to implement changes in behaviour as well as skills sets.
Ian strongly believes that the learning experience should be fun and always creates a professional, energetic and interactive atmospheric in all his training. He employs the latest accelerated learning techniques and is qualified in Kaizen training methodologies. People learn by doing and having fun in the process therefore, Ian’s courses are highly interactive and practical and never dull!
